MALI: 90,000 FCFA FOR EACH POOR HOUSEHOLD, FIRST PAYMENTS FROM THE GOVERNMENTAL EMERGENCY MONEY TRANSFER PROGRAM (PGTMU) IN THE CONTEXT OF COVID-19

This assistance operation, the launching ceremony of which was chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance Mr. Fassery Doumbia, consists of providing financial assistance in the amount of 90,000 FCFA to each poor household. , vulnerable in order to mitigate the economic and social impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in Mali.
Through this launch, “the government of Mali is keeping its promise made to poor and vulnerable households in the country to provide substantial support to mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. This reflects, if need be, the importance that the government attaches to this vast social assistance program intended for our populations bruised and affected by the effects of the disease ”declared Mr. Fassery Doumbia representing the Minister of Economy and Finance Mr. Alousséni SANOU during the ceremony.
During this event, 10 beneficiaries of the Program each received the sum of 90,000 CFA francs. This government measure, the first phase of which will reach 352,900 households out of one million targeted households across the country, is the largest social assistance program implemented in Mali.
It will mobilize the sum of 100 billion FCFA entirely financed by the National Budget. The following took part in this ceremony: the representative of the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the mayor of commune 1 of the District of Bamako, notables, representatives of women’s and youth associations as well as the coordinator of the Social Safety Net in Mali “Jigisemé jiri”, responsible for the implementation of the government program of emergency cash transfers.
